Dear Beloved,
It is always a pleasure to welcome you into a new month. We are now in September, the ninth month of the year, and I am grateful that God has brought us this far.
The year has been a lot for me. It has been a long journey of learning to trust God more deeply and to rely on His promises, even when circumstances do not look the way I expected.
How has it been for you?
As we enter September, I want to encourage us with God's promise to His people in Zechariah 2:5:
Zechariah 2:5 (KJV)
“For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.”
God was speaking to the Israelites in this scripture and assuring them of His protection, even though Jerusalem was a city without physical walls.
The people were returning from exile and beginning to rebuild Jerusalem. There was no physical wall to provide security or protection around them, but God promised to be their wall of fire—their ultimate security and defence.
What a powerful reminder that our security is not always found in what we can see!
As you go through September, I want you to keep these things in mind:
1. God is a wall of fire around you.
His presence surrounds you, protects you and keeps you. You may not always see His protection, but you can trust that He is with you.
2. You may not have everything figured out, but God does.
When you don't have all the answers, remember that God is available to guide you. Ask Him for wisdom and trust Him to lead you.
3. See your future from God's perspective, not from the view of broken walls.
What you see around you may look incomplete, uncertain or discouraging, but God sees the finished picture. Don't allow your present circumstances to define your future.
4. You are not alone.
God was with you before now, He is with you today, and He will remain with you in the days ahead. His presence is not seasonal.
5. Face each day with thanksgiving.
There may be things you are still waiting for, but there is always something to thank God for. Let gratitude remind you of His faithfulness and keep your heart anchored in Him.
Beloved, never be discouraged.
As you look at September and the remaining months of the year, choose to see them through God's lens. You may see unfinished walls, but God sees a city under His protection. You may see uncertainty, but God sees purpose. You may see limitations, but God sees possibilities.
God is your wall of fire, and His glory is in your midst.
